After a month I would be unable to find anything missing in this lovely apartment. It is well located, near two ferry stations, in a very secure area with a not so touristic flavour and very convivial. But most of all the hospitality of the owners made our stay unique! From Tulay waiting at my arrival to their constant care I felt so welcomed and amongst friends. At one point we were six in the apartment and it was very comfortable but even when I was alone it was pleasant. Evenings on the balcony watching the lights of Haya Sofia, the blue Mosquee and Topkapi palace and morning coffee watching the ferries go by will remain in my memory as some of my most precious travel souvenirs. Crossing the Bosphorus in the mornings was so pleasant and coming back at night with the cool breeze was a perfect end to busy days. But most of all the owners make all the difference. They truly enjoy meeting new people and are extremely generous with their time and care. The weather in June was perfect. Tekim introduced me to the various shops, just a few minutes walk from the apartment, and it was a delight every day to stop at the bakery, the fruit vendror and the butcher and be greeted with a big smile. Although we did not speak the language everyone went out of their way to help us. The owners speak english fluently and supplied us with all the information we needed. For anyone spending sufficient time it is worth it to get a little electronic device for the ferries and buses, as it saves you buying your tokens each time and waiting in line to do so. The price is the same but it is quite convenient. Ferries run continually and you never have to wait. It is a nice 10 minute walk downhill to the Uskudar ferry station and a flat 15 minute walk to the Harem ferry. Be sure to go out at night along the Bosphorous, 3 minute from the apartment, and enjoy the wonderful lively atmosphere. All in all the apartment was all it promised to be and much much more!

I spent here 10 days in June '08 with my 88 years old mother and my sister, and I discovered a beautiful spot in the Asian side of Istanbul, in the district of Uskudar. The apartment has really anything one might need, PC and satellite TV included, it is at walking distance from Uskudar harbour (where one can reach by ship the European side), the owner - very helpful and always reachable - could even provide a lady who would cook and clean for us.
We could enjoy the sunset and a beautiful landscape of the Bosphorous shore from the balcony, in a nice and calm environment. I have beautiful memories of my holiday in this apartment with my family, and I envy the ones who will be guest in the future.

This was a first time experience in that I made a reservation for an apartment for a long stay via a website from across the world (USA). I was kind of nervous about it, but it all went according to plan. Honestly, it was close to perfect! We were two parties reuniting after many years in Istanbul. Since the apartment was on the 3rd floor I was concerned since two people in our party were over 70 years old. But this was a small price to pay for a great view of Bosporus the apartment had to offer. The apartment had all the comforts of home. For example, a kitchen with all the conveniences, an air conditioned living and dining room with an awesome view and bedrooms with all the amenities. Moreover, when we arrived, the apartment was immaculately clean.
We treasured the hospitality of Turkish people. Especially, Ertug's Dad whom on our second day of our stay took us with his car around the neighborhood and showed us where the local merchants are located. He even introduced us to the butcher, fresh fruit stand and the baker where he asked for their best service since we were his guest. Also, we won't forget the hospitality of our driver, Mr. Hakan. With his limited English of 6 words, he did communicate with us one way or another and met our needs.
I loved getting up early every morning and going to the local baker to get our daily fresh bread for our morning breakfast we enjoyed on the apartment’s balcony watching the ships out in the Bosporus.
We loved riding the ferries back and forth from 'Eskudar Eskeleh' port that was located about 1.5 miles away from the apartment.
All and all, we stayed in Istanbul for over 3 weeks and our stay at Ertug's apartment made this an amazing trip.

Thanks

We've stayed in this appartment for 4 days. Upon our arrival in Istanbul the owner had arranged for someone to guide us to the appartment from the airport, once arrived at our destination, a very warm welcome with Turkish tea was prepared fur us.

In general it is a very nice appartment in the city center of Istanbul, near several touristic places.

When we had to stay longer in Turkey due to the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland the owner helped us every way he could. First we could stay longer in the appartment then he helped us to find our way home and made all arrangements to find us another hotel in case the alternative trip was cancelled.

Thanks again !

We just finished our 6 weeks holiday which included 9 days staying in Tekin's apartment. The apartment is fully furnished and most unlikely you would need anything extra and if you do,Tekin tries his best to provide it for you. He is a true gentleman and looks after his guests by all means. He may visit you or give you a call to make sure his guests are comfortable. From the the terrace you have an excellent view to the Bosphorus, blue mosque, and other monuments across the river which makes your coffee break quite pleasant.

On our arrival we were a bit disappointed because the place was not as clean or new as it appears on the pictures especially the bathroom. However upon discussing it with Tekin he sent a cleaner to take care of the most problematic areas.Overall we felt that The apartment definitely needs some renovation and more maintance as some parts of the house such as bathroom and kitchen are getiing run down or the carpets need to be shampooed.

If we plan another visit to Istanbul, this is the place we go back again, as it was very comfortable and provided a wonderful acomedation for the eight of us.Our Family absouloutely enjoyed the stay and hence we would not hesitate to recomend it to our family and friends or anyone who is after a nice, comfortable apartment away from all the hussel and bussel of the main touristic areas.

Istanbul on the Asian side; highly recommended!!

The appartement: very spacious, comfortable beds, great shower, lovely living-/dining room and -the best!- a balkony with a view across the Bosporus.

The location: away from the mad tourist crowd over on the European side; but only a 10 minute walk from the ferry and a further 10 minute -very enjoyable- ferry ride away from it.

The host: very accommodating! Taking us around the area the first day. Introducing us to the baker around the corner (open 24/7), the butcher and the greengrocers.
Supplying us with lots of information on how to get around. And making sure,
that the taxi to the airport was on time at 4:30 am.

We (6 friends from Italy, Germany and Canada) enjoyed our stay in Üsküdar very much.
Most of the time we'd rather cook in the well equipped kitchen than go to dinner, to be able to see the sunset from the balkony. Or on the way back from the ferry in the evening we'd enjoy a cup of tea from one of the little kiosks at the Bosporus with the locals; glad to be back on the more peaceful Asian side.

Good value, nice sized apt
Review Submitted: January 2, 2010 Date of Stay: December 2009
Stayed here for week after Christmas with 4 adults and 2 children. As said by others, the homeowner is very helpful and accessible for inquiries and advice- even helped us plan our New Year's Eve. "Elegance" of apt may be overstated. This is an old building and while the apt has been updated with lots of IKEA the exposed pipes, old kitchen, poor lighting detract slightly. The view is great with the Galata Bridge, Blue Mosque and Topaki Palace all directly across the Bosphorus. The view has to be balanced with need to use the ferry to cross everytime you want to go to historical sites. Ferry is easy to reach and inexpensive.
Had a mid-week cleaning included in price which was a nice addition. Also, arrangement of taxi's for us to/from airport was very helpful
